Beyond 'Religion versus Emancipation’

Conference “Religious Transformation & Gender” Moved Online

October 8, 2020.

We are pleased to invite you again to attend the conference “Religious Transformation and Gender Contestations in/and the study of religion, gender and sexuality” taking place in March, 2021. Given the public health and safety concerns related to COVID-19, it has been decided that this conference will take place in a virtual setting. Despite the obvious limitations that come with such lack of in-person contact, we nonetheless trust that this space can ensure a safe environment for (international) participants and can provide an opportunity for fruitful academic exchange.

The conference will be hosted on March 10-12, 2021 within Microsoft Teams, a platform that combines live chat, video meetings, and file storage. In various plenary sessions and parallel seminars there will be opportunity to discuss a wide array of topics related to the transformative and transforming aspects of religion vis-à-vis matters of gender and sexuality. Academic contributions associated with these topics are still welcome; the full description of the conference theme and the call for papers can be found here.

The conference fee is €50 (€20 for Junior researchers) and registration will open in November.

More details concerning the registration and programme of the “Religious Transformation and Gender Contestations in/and the study of religion, gender and sexuality” conference will be announced soon.
